Policy Stack provides several ways to find what you need: a global search command, sidebar navigation, and contextual help. This article covers each approach.
Global Search
The fastest way to find anything in Policy Stack is the global search command:
- Mac: Press
Cmd + K - Windows / Linux: Press
Ctrl + K
This opens a search overlay where you can type to find:
- Policies — search by policy nickname or carrier name
- Policy loans and goals — search by the names recorded for them
- Banking Ledger entries — search their descriptions
- Documents — search filenames and descriptions
- Record actions — find where to log a premium, repayment, cash flow, or other record
- Help articles — search help content by topic or keyword
- Pages — jump directly to Home, Policies, Assets, Tools, Settings, and other pages
You don't need to type the full name. Partial matches work — typing "mass" can find a policy with MassMutual as the carrier.
Search matches what things are called, never what they are worth. It does not search policy numbers, account numbers, or dollar amounts. A standalone amount returns no results instead of showing unrelated records or help articles.
How Results Are Organized
Search results are grouped into Pages, Record, Your records, and Help. Each result shows enough context to distinguish the destination before you open it.
Click any result (or press Enter with it highlighted) to navigate directly to that item.
When nothing matches, Ask the assistant passes the question into the AI Assistant. Search itself never changes a record or performs an action.
Sidebar Navigation
The sidebar is your primary navigation menu and is always accessible:
- Home — your banking system overview with key metrics
- Banking System — Policies, Loans, and the Banking Ledger
- Debts — Liabilities, Debt Sequencer, and Payoff Path when available
- Wealth — Net Worth, Assets, Note Tracker, and Performance
- Toolkit — Goals, AI Assistant, and All Tools
- Documents — household files and generated documents
- Help Center — help articles and glossary
On desktop, the sidebar remains visible and can collapse to a narrow rail. On smaller screens, it opens as a full-width drawer from the menu button in the top bar. Settings is available from the avatar menu in the updated navigation.
Mobile Navigation
On mobile devices:
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner to open the sidebar
- Tap any navigation item to go to that page — the sidebar closes automatically
- The global search shortcut is not available via keyboard on mobile, but you can tap the search icon in the top bar to open the same search overlay
Contextual Help
Throughout Policy Stack, you'll find a help button (displayed as a question mark icon) in the lower corner of the screen. Tapping or clicking this button opens a panel with knowledge base articles relevant to the page you are currently viewing.
For example, if you are on the Policies page, the help panel surfaces articles about adding policies, recording snapshots, and understanding cash value. This contextual filtering saves you from searching manually.
The help button is available on every page and always shows articles matched to your current context.
