Auto Log records recurring events into your banking ledger so your record can stay in step with activity outside Policy Stack. Premium recording comes directly from the policy's saved premium schedule. Loan repayment Auto Logs come from repayment scheduling surfaces. Income from an asset with an expected cash flow — a rental, a syndication, an equipment lease — is recorded the same way, from the asset's own cash-flow schedule.
Recorded Is Not Confirmed
Auto Log records what your schedule says should have happened. It never sees the money arrive. A row it wrote is an expectation until you confirm or correct it. In the banking ledger, asset income and scheduled premiums carry an Auto tag so you can tell them apart from entries you recorded yourself, and rows inferred from a carrier statement you uploaded carry the same tag for the same reason. Scheduled loan repayments are the exception: they say "· Auto-logged" at the end of their description but take no tag yet.
Correct a figure on the record's own page — the asset for cash flow, the policy for a premium — so the underlying record and your banking history stay in step. Policy Stack asks you to confirm scheduled premiums, note payments, and loan repayments. When asset-income confirmation is enabled, it also asks you to confirm asset income, and older unconfirmed rows remain available from the Assets page even when they did not create a notification.
What Auto Log Does
When a saved event becomes due, Policy Stack can create a pending ledger record and prompt you to confirm it. For premiums, you do not enter a second amount, cadence, or start date: the policy's premium schedule already contains those facts. A loan repayment uses its own repayment schedule.
Auto Log records what already happens on your schedule. It does not move money, change your autopay, submit a repayment, or contact your carrier — it keeps your Policy Stack records in sync with payments that happen outside the app.
Base Premium and Planned PUA
Whole-life premium recording has two independent choices:
| Item | How Policy Stack treats it |
|---|---|
| Base premium | The carrier-required policy payment. New whole-life policies default to creating a pending Base record on each saved due date. |
| Planned PUA | An optional contribution. Include it only when you want the policy's saved PUA amount to create a separate pending record. It is never treated as required or overdue. |
You can record Base only, Planned PUA only, both, or neither. Turning recording off does not turn off Base-premium reminders.
One Premium Schedule
The policy record is the source of truth for premium amount, payment frequency, issue-date anchor, and paid-up boundary. Update those facts on the policy; Policy Stack updates the managed recording schedule to match. This avoids duplicate schedules drifting apart.
Where Auto Log Appears
As soon as a policy has a saved premium schedule, Policy Stack can use it in forward-looking dashboard views:
- Dashboard Upcoming names the exact next record type and target, and shows the next Base-premium obligation even when premium recording is off alongside loan-repayment Auto Log items and other recorded dates.
- Actual history takes over once the premium, PUA, or loan repayment has been recorded.
Planned PUA may appear as planned activity, but it is not labeled required or overdue.
Where to Set It Up
- In the Add Policy wizard — enter the premium schedule once, then choose whether Base and optional Planned PUA should become pending records. Base is selected by default for a new whole-life policy.
- From a policy's detail page — open the Premium Schedule tab and change the same recording preference. Edit amount, cadence, and dates in the policy schedule itself.
Confirming Recorded Payments
When a scheduled premium, note payment, or loan repayment comes due, Auto Log records the entry and surfaces it for you to confirm. Confirming keeps your banking ledger accurate.
When asset-income confirmation is enabled, Auto Log also surfaces asset cash flow for confirmation. You can edit an asset cash flow to confirm the corrected details, or choose It didn't come in to record a gap for the period and remove the assumed entry. Partners can edit and confirm shared entries; marking an asset cash flow as not received is available to the account owner.
While asset-income confirmation is enabled, the Assets page groups unconfirmed income by asset. Open an asset to review all of its unconfirmed entries together or confirm them all at once. This list comes from the recorded cash-flow rows themselves, so older entries remain available even when they did not create a notification.
