What's the difference between Starter and Builder Pro?

Starter includes 1 policy, first-policy AI extraction, Help Mode without account-data access, the Policy Loan Repayment Modeler, and Human Life Value. Builder Pro adds unlimited policies, assets, and goals; Full Mode with explicitly confirmed record changes; unlimited AI Insights; Debt Sequencer, Income Stacker, and Financing Modeler; document extraction; analytics; collaboration; and expanded exports. Four additional tools remain marked coming soon.

How do I connect my account to my advisor?

Accepted Answer

The easiest way is to sign up through your advisor's invite link — policystack.co/advisor/their-name. Your account is automatically linked to their practice when you finish onboarding. You can also enter their referral code during signup; your advisor can share the code from their Practice Settings. If you already have an account, go to Settings → Advisor Access to connect manually.

What happens after the trial?

Consumer Builder Pro includes a 14-day free trial (30 days if referred by a practitioner). Advisor plans include a 30-day free trial with your full tier’s client seat allowance active from day one — no reduced trial cap. Your card is charged at the plan rate when the trial ends. Cancel anytime before the trial expires and you won’t be charged.

Can I switch between plans?

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.

How do client seats work?

Accepted Answer

Each seat gives one client full Builder Pro access ($25/mo value). Seats have configurable durations (3, 6, 12, 18, or 24 months) or no expiration. When a seat ends, it returns to your pool immediately while the client keeps Builder Pro during a 7-day transition window.

What if I need more seats than my plan includes?

You can add on extra client seats at $15/seat/month on Practice 10 and above. If your add-on costs approach the next tier's price, we'll suggest upgrading for better value.

Question 7

What's a connection vs. a seat?

Accepted Answer

A connection is the CRM link between you and an advisor — your advisor records you as a contact they're tracking. A seat gives you Builder Pro access provided by your advisor. Connection and data-sharing are two SEPARATE consents: you can be connected without sharing financial data, and you can revoke data-sharing without removing the connection. You can also be connected without being seated.

What's the referral credit?

When someone you refer subscribes to any paid plan — consumer Builder Pro or an advisor tier — you receive a one-time $25 credit on your next invoice. Anyone can refer anyone: advisors, clients, even non-users.

Question 9

What happens if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Your data is always preserved. When you cancel a paid plan, you keep access through the end of your current billing period, then revert to the free Starter plan. You can re-subscribe anytime and pick up where you left off — nothing is deleted.

Question 10

What happens when my seat expires?

Accepted Answer

For a scheduled expiration, you'll receive emails at 90, 30, and 7 days beforehand. When the seat ends, Builder Pro continues for a 7-day transition while you can start self-pay with the transition discount or receive another seat. If neither happens, the account continues on Starter with all data preserved.

What happens to my partner’s access if I cancel Builder Pro?

Accepted Answer

Your partner enters a 30-day grace window. During that window, the two of you can still use the household exactly as before — nothing is hidden, nothing is removed. Both of you receive an email when the window opens. If Builder Pro is reactivated before the window expires, the collaboration returns to active and nothing was lost. If the window expires, your partner’s account is removed and you receive a final notification. You can also remove a partner immediately from Settings → Collaboration with no grace window. Activity log attribution is preserved either way — past entries continue to show who did what.
